At Grace Chapel, it is our practice to "Labor Together as a Team" (1 Cor. 12:4-11, 14f; Phil. 1:27; 1 Pet. 4:10-11). Recognizing that the church is described as the "body of Christ", we take seriously our obligation to learn to work together as a team with every believer. Each member knowing and using their gifts is critical for the proper and effective functioning of the body of Christ. In order to help you engage in ministry and use your gifts, we have provided this page to connect our members with ministry opportunities.
Ministry Opportunities @ Grace Chapel

Castle Rock Care Center. Our Castle Rock Care Center ministry provides a place for volunteers with a variety of gifts and abilities. Each Sunday morning a volunteer team holds a worship service at the Castle Rock Care Center located just east of our church building. The Care Center ministry is an expression of our love and concern for those who are no longer able to go to church. So, we take church to them. Each week we send a team of believers who minister to the needs of the Care Center residents. Together we sing, pray, and hear a message from God's word.

If you have a heart for the elderly, come and join us. We have need for greeters, song leaders and musicians. Become God's hands and feet to his loved ones.

We serve from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Sunday morning, once a month.
Responsible children are welcome, but must be accompanied by a supervising adult.

Sunday Morning Fellowship: If you are interested in helping prepare the fellowship table on a Sunday (cutting donuts, making coffee), please contact Debbie Fellenz.

Building Maintenance. If you are able to help with facility maintenance and support, contact Michael Kennison.

Children's Ministry: If you are interested in leading a class and teaching the Bible to children, please contact Chrystal Miller for more information.

Ushers, greeters, helpers, etc. If you would like to assist on Sunday mornings serving as an usher or greeter, contact Eric Schield. Some of the opportunities for service we have each week include: Ushers: Our ushers assure that everyone present enjoys a distraction-free service. We do this by helping people find their seat and assist with the offering and communion. Our ushers are prepared 30 minutes before a service and assist for 5 minutes at the end of the service. You will find more information here.
Greeters: Our greeters welcome new visitors and regular attenders as we gather for worship each week. Greeters are energetic, outgoing, and friendly, and as young as 12 years old. Our greeters gather 20 minutes before the service, and assist again 10 minutes at the end of the service. If you would like to assist us once a month in serving as a greeter, you can find more information here.

Once again this year we are participating in "Operation Christmas Child."

We are encouraging everyone here at GCCR to participate in one way or another.

1. Please pray for this project. Pray that God will touch the heart of every child who receives a shoebox gift and that He will bring many children and families to faith in Christ.
2. Many families enjoy having each child in the family put together a shoebox for a child their own age.
3. Boxes with brochures inside will be available November 2. Click here for a video about packing your own shoe box. If you need more labels click here .
4. Shoeboxes can be dropped off on Sunday or during the week, Monday to Thursday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
5. We need all the boxes to be turned in by November 23.

Women's Christmas Dessert
Friday, Dec 5th, 2008
From 7-9:30pm

Tickets are: $10 each, or $50 to buy a table (8 at each table)
We need women to host a table.
Men are needed to serve that evening as well.
This annual outreach event will guide us right into the spirit of the season. Enjoy fabulous desserts and beautiful holiday music, and hear a heartfelt & moving testimony.
The best part of this event, though, is our focus- others!

Sunday Morning Children's Classes - Children's Ministry

At our 9:30 class we use "Hands-On Bible Curriculum."
Through these lessons kids stay connected and engaged during Bible lessons and therefore remember their "message" for months and years to come. They have fun learning and they actively participate.
We focus on one specific Bible Point, and use a variety of activities to reinforce that message. The goal is to send children home with one life-applicable piece of Bible truth each week. Weeks and months later, they will still remember what they have learned and be able to use it in their daily lives.

Hands-On Bible Curriculum is R.E.A.L.
Relational, Experiential, Applicable, and Learner-based. Every activity is purposefully designed to involve the child and communicate the biblical point of that day's lesson. Children don't just memorize a lesson in their head; they embrace the biblical truth with their heart.

Location: Oaxaca, MexicoMinistry: Grant and Jennifer have been in Oaxaca for 8 years, and seek to reach the many unreached people groups in the Mexican state of Oaxaca by leading short-term mission teams, leading youth programs, equipping indigenous pastors, and personally sharing the gospel in unreached villages. They also run a year-round missionary training school where American students are given the opportunity to learn about God's call on their lives while participating in missionary activity in Mexico. God is working in powerful ways through this couple and their ministry. The youth from GCCR have been able to minister in Oaxaca through this program.

Prayer requests: Wisdom as the ministry continues to grow and extend into new areas and villages. Pray for grace with language/culture, quick relationships/trust building with the people, and that they would shine the light of Jesus in word and deed.

Harlan grew up on a farm northwest of Ladora, Iowa. It was there, through the influence of his parents and his older brother, that he came to realize his need for Jesus Christ, and at the age of seven he placed his faith in Christ for forgiveness of sins and for eternal life. Harlan began preaching when he was in college, and he has served in the pastorate ever since graduating from Dallas Theological Seminary.

Sharon is Harlan’s partner in life and in ministry. Sharon has served on Women’s Ministries Leadership Teams and she has sung in choirs. She enjoys playing tennis with Harlan. Sharon and Harlan have two children: Joshua, a graduate of Midwestern State University, is married to Jill Thompson, lives in Houston, Texas, and has four children - Madison, Noah, Micah and Kayna; and Sarah, a graduate of Wheaton College, is married to Mark Loeffler, lives in Temecula, California, and has three children - Luke, Benjamin, and Samuel.

Harlan enjoys being outdoors, he enjoys hunting, and he enjoys playing tennis and golf. Harlan has a great love for the Lord and a genuine love for people. Harlan’s passion is to see lives transformed into conformity with Christ through the teaching of the Scriptures. He finds great delight in studying the Word, putting it into practice, and sharing its truths with others. He is well known for his expository preaching and his Bible teaching. His teaching is personal, practical, motivational, enthusiastic, and life-changing!

Why You Need To Join a Fellowship Group - Adult Ministry

1. We all need biblical teaching to grow in Christ.
“We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone mature in Christ.” Colossians 1:28

2. We all need encouragement in life and prayer.
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another . . . .” Hebrews 10:24

3. We all need to be equipped for service.
“[God] gave some to be . . . pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up . . . .” Eph. 4:11-12
