Deacons
Deacon means "one who serves." This position was initiated by the apostles in the early church to assist with administrative and physical needs in the congregation (Acts 6:1-6). It became recognized as a church office (Philippians 1:1). Those serving in the office of deacon have spiritual qualifications similar to elders. Elders are shepherds called to serve by discerning the mind of Christ - their role is spiritually strategic. Deacons are leaders called to serve by becoming the hands of Christ - their role is practical and tactical.
Role of deacons: To assist with administrative and church needs as requested / approved by elders. These ministries may include serving physical needs of widows, single parents, the elderly, and the sick or injured as well as attending to church facility needs.
Responsibilities of deacons:
- Administer the development and operation of service ministries and needs related to facility maintenance of Grace Chapel Castle Rock.
- Facilitate the growth and recruitment of spiritually qualified people in the church to serve as deacons.
- Manage financial assistance requests of Grace Chapel attendees and make service, financial or physical assistance recommendations to the elder board.
Communication & Accountability: Communicate with elders, staff, and/or church ministry leaders through meeting minutes or direct correspondence on matters of interest or concern. Responsibilities are subject to oversight of the elder board.
